Psychedelic Assisted Therapy

Having recently completed Naropa University’s 200-hour certification in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT) in December 2024, I’m excited to offer this innovative service at Mindful Psychiatric Services.

What is Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy?
Psychedelic-assisted therapy is an integrative approach that combines traditional psychotherapy with the use of specific psychedelic substances in a controlled, therapeutic setting. Research suggests that these substances can help facilitate profound emotional healing, enhance self-awareness, and support mental well-being in ways that traditional therapies alone cannot.

While the legal status of most psychedelics remains restricted in New Mexico, we are pleased to offer specialized preparation and integration services for individuals using psychedelics for therapeutic purposes. These services help ensure a safe and intentional approach to the healing process.

Therapeutic Benefits of PAT
Studies and real-world experiences suggest that psychedelic-assisted therapy can be effective for a variety of conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, addiction, grief, and a general sense of disconnection. By working through unresolved emotions and gaining new perspectives, many find lasting relief and growth through the process.

Safety and Ethical Approach
At Mindful Psychiatric Services, client safety is always our top priority. We adhere to ethical guidelines and provide a safe, compassionate environment for those using psychedelics for therapeutic purposes. We ensure informed consent, offer pre- and post-session support, and create a space where clients feel held and supported throughout the process.
