An integrated approach to caring for your mental health.

Thoughtful psychiatric care, with time to heal

Mental health is complex, and there is rarely a single answer.

At Mindful Psychiatry, we take the time to understand you as a whole person—your history, your experiences, your strengths, and what you are hoping for in your life.

We offer psychiatric evaluation and medication management alongside therapy, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and other integrative approaches. Our goal is to find an approach that fits you, rather than fitting you into a particular treatment model.

We believe good psychiatric care takes time.

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”

– Maya Angelou, poet and author

Our Approach

Time Matters

We offer full-hour appointments because we believe there is value in having time to slow down and really talk.

Rather than limiting care to occasional medication checks, we see people regularly—weekly, every other week, or monthly, depending on their needs.

This gives us time to build a relationship, understand what is changing, notice patterns, and make thoughtful decisions together.

The path of healing is seldom linear and unfolds differently for everyone. Sometimes it happens through therapy, medication, working through trauma, changing patterns, or learning new ways to care for yourself.

Often, it is a combination.

Medication is a tool, not the whole picture

Medication can be an important part of psychiatric care. It can also be helpful to reconsider medications that are no longer needed or are no longer serving you.

We have particular expertise in deprescribing and medication reduction, and we approach these decisions thoughtfully and collaboratively.

Our goal isn’t to get you on medication or off medication.

It’s to help you understand your options and find what supports your well-being.

Healing happens in relationship

We believe that feeling heard and understood is part of good psychiatric care.

Our work is collaborative. We want to understand what you are experiencing, what you have tried, what has helped, and what hasn’t. Together, we can make sense of where you are and consider what might help you move forward.

There is no single path to healing.

Our role is to bring knowledge, experience, curiosity, and compassion to the process—and to give you the time and space to find your way.

“Trauma is not what happens to you. Trauma is what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you.”

– Gabor Maté, MD, physician and trauma researcher, author of In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts

We're Glad You're Here

Reaching out for help can be a difficult step, and we commend you for taking it. When traditional methods of addressing your concerns no longer seem effective, it’s time to explore new strategies. Stress, anger, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression can all create obstacles in our lives—affecting our relationships, work, self-perception, and overall well-being.

At Mindful Psychiatry, we are, first and foremost, focused on creating a safe and supportive relationship so that healing can occur.  Secondarily, we seek to offer a comprehensive, holistic approach to mental health, blending mindfulness-based psychotherapy with behavioral pharmacology. This integrative model supports people in living more fully and being present in each moment, fostering a greater sense of self-acceptance and mental well-being.

In addition to psychotherapy, your care may include recommendations for psychiatric medications, dietary changes, movement practices, EMDR, trauma-based therapies, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and mindfulness practices. Every treatment decision is made jointly with you and with intention, compassion, and a careful review of current neuroscience and evidence-based practices.
